"The Perils of Midwifery"

On September 11, 2009, The Today Show had a segment called "The Perils of Midwifery."  This segment showed a FEW possible problems that can go wrong (focusing on the fact that they were at home... not discussing the fact that these issues happen more in hospitals!), and had a few doctors comment on it.  I wasn't able to see it because they took it off of their website pretty quickly as they received letters and email from many angry women.  But, from what I hear, it was awful.  I was so excited to read a letter, written by the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services.  It was amazing, and I hope and pray people will start to truly understand that homebirth is actually statistically SAFER than hospital birth!
